The Pony Express could deliver a letter faster than ever before, but only operated for 18 months from April 1860-1861. Nevertheless, has become synonomous with the Old West. The transcontinental telegraph came into use in October 1861 and was the immediate cause of the Pony Express's demise. The Stables is now a Transport Museum, documenting the history of the Pony Express.
