Twin Spires Church, St. Joseph, MO
Twin Spires Church, previously known as the Immaculate Conception Church, was erected in 1908, after the previous church was destroyed by fire. It was designed by architect Edmund J Eckel and is one of the finest examples of the Gothic Revival style in northwest Missouri. It is one of the oldest buildings still standing in St. Joseph, MO. and when plans to raze the building were announced, a group of parishioners and preservationists, formed Twin Spires Inc. to save the building. The Diocese deeded the property to the group and gave them a $75,000 grant. The City of St. Joseph, matched the grant and thankfully, this "historic gem" was restored.
